Max Johnson, 8, of Mason, was named a 2011 Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit and Run finalist.

More than 600,000 youth from across the nation participated in the competition, which is the official youth skills competition of Major League Baseball.

Max, who plays on Mason Little League’s U10 White Sox team, is among 24 players and one of three from his age group (8U) chosen as national finalists.

The finalists were announced live this week on “MLB Tonight” on the MLB Network.

Max will now go on to compete at National Finals on July 11, held during MLB’s All-Star Week in Phoenix, Az.
