Mason High School’s athletic office has announced this week’s athletes of the week as tennis standout Katherine Baruk and football extraordinaire J.D. Sprague. Here are the glowing reviews given by the athletic office:
Katherine, seen above left, is a senior co-captain on the Mason girl’s tennis team. Partnering with senior Elizabeth Yuan, Katherine has a 5-0 record at #1 doubles. Her only loss of the season came in the finals of the Bishop Watterson Classic. She’s an intense competitor and a four-year varsity player.
J.D. Sprague, who also plays basketball, is a senior on the Mason Football team. JD had a huge offensive explosion in the narrow overtime lose to the visiting Lancaster Golden Gales. He was 15-27 for 190 yards and 2 touchdowns through the air, and he also racked up 79 yards on 15 carries with 3 touchdowns on the ground.
