The Beach Waterpark has cancelled its Beach on Ice holiday event for the 2011 season.
This season would have marked the 13th year for the Mason event, which was known for its horse-drawn carriage rides, toboggan slides and outdoor skating rink.
The Beach officials say the decision was made based on slumping winter season attendance for the past two years and in an effort to focus resources towards the upcoming summer season.
“After 12 years of presenting this unique, fun and family-oriented winter holiday event, we are saddened to put an end to one of our favorite traditions,” said Pamela Strickfaden, the park’s vice president and general manager. “This business decision comes after much deliberation, and is one that we feel enables us to re-focus our creativity and resources on providing even more fun and entertainment during our core summer operating season.”
Guests who have purchased 2011 Beach on Ice general admission tickets through The Beach’s website will receive an automatic refund. For more information, go to www.thebeachwaterpark.com.
