The Ides of MarchCarl Weiser reports:

A George Clooney-hosted fundraiser for President Barack Obama is expected to raise more money than any presidential fundraiser in history.

Citing “campaign sources,” The Hollywood Reporter says the  dinner has sold out and is expected to raise $12 million:

One-hundred-and-fifty high rollers — including Hollywood studio heads, celebrities and an array of entertainment industry execs — have paid $40,000 apiece to dine with the president at Clooney’s Studio City home on May 10. DreamWorks Animation chief Jeffrey Katzenberg, the president’s major entertainment industry fundraiser, has been spearheading the event along with Hollywood political consultant Andy Spahn.

Clooney, who grew up in Fort Mitchell, Mason and Augusta, used Cincinnati as the setting of  ’The Ides of March,’ his 2011 movie about a Democratic presidential candidate.
