Janice Morse reports:
Here comes the smog again.
A smog alert has been issued for Friday after several days of easy breathing in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky, warning residents that the air quality is expected to deteriorate into a range considered “unhealthy for sensitive groups,” officials said Thursday.
Those groups include children, the elderly and people with breathing problems.
The Southwest Ohio Air Quality Agency recommends people in those categories avoid spending long periods outdoors.
In addition, the agency asks people to “do your share for cleaner air” by taking these steps to avoid exacerbating the problem while the alert is in effect:
· Refuel vehicles after 8 p.m. and tighten gas caps
· Postpone use of gas-powered lawn equipment
· Carpool
· Eliminate unnecessary car trips by combining errands into one trip
· Take the bus
· Conserve energy
