Shauna Steigerwald reports:
Just when you thought the Summer of Sizzle couldnt get any hotter, the National Weather Service is calling for the regions highest temperatures in 24 years.
Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky could see its hottest days of the year on Friday and Saturday, when temperatures are expected to hit 102 degrees and 103 degrees, respectively. The region hasn’t seen highs like that since 1988, when we hit 102 degrees July 8 and 103 July 9, according to Andy Latto, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Wilmington.
This time around, the heat index will make it feel like 110 degrees each day, Latto said.
Temperatures should top out in the mid-90s on Sunday before a relative cool-down arrives Monday, when temperatures are expected to peak in the upper 80s.
