Jennifer Edwards Baker reports:
It will be a hot and muggy week with blazing temperatures returning to Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.
The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a special weather statement warning a strong ridge of high pressure will build east into the region today.
High temperatures will soar between 90 and 95 degrees this afternoon and into the upper 90s on Tuesday.
With the heat indexes factored in, it will feel in the mid-to-upper 90s today and 100 to 105 on Tuesday.
It should remain mostly dry with just slight chances for pop-up showers tonight.
Overnight lows will only fall into the 70s.
A cold front will cool the mercury down into the upper 80s by Thursday.
Until then, the public is being cautioned to spend time in air conditioning, drink plenty of fluids and check on elderly and young children.
