Jennifer Edwards Baker reports:
The weekend forecast couldn’t be any better.
With sunny skies and high temperatures hovering around 77 and 78 degrees Saturday and Sunday, this would be an ideal weekend for that game of golf, cruising along the Ohio River or taking a long, leisurely stroll through Mt. Airy Forest.
Overnight lows will be brisk and in the mid-50s.
Today’s forecast calls for clouds and a slight chance of showers before 2 p.m. Then it gradually will become mostly sunny with a high near 78 degrees.
Daytime highs for this time of the summer are usually around 86, but a cold front from the west has driven down the mercury for the next several days, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.
Temperatures are expected to remain below normal through Tuesday, when the high will reach 82 degrees.
It will be dry through at least Thursday of next week. By then, high temperatures will rise to a more seasonal 87 degrees.
