Senior Jami Pfeifer scored the lone goal for either team, as Mason (11-0, 6-0) prevailed at home in a physical, defensive struggle against conference foe Fairfield (5-2-4, 3-2-1) by a final score of 1-0 Thursday evening.
Pfeifer scored an unassisted goal with just under 6 minutes remaining in the first half. The game was a defensive struggle throughout, as both teams managed only four shots on goal each, with Pfiefer having two of those, including the game winner.
Mason’s goal keeping tandem of junior Kelsey Harris and freshman Toni Bizzarro, supported by aggressive team defense, recorded their ninth combined shutout of the season.
Mason will face another tough non-conference test this Saturday, 9/29, at home vs. Ursuline Academy (6-2-2, 1-1-1).
