Mason’s student newspaper receives national honors

The ChronicleMason High School’s student newspaper earned high marks from the National Scholastic Press Association, the school announced.

Mason’s newspaper, The Chronicle, received the organization’s highest award, the All American, after receiving five out of five marks of distinction in categories of coverage/content, writing/editing, photos/art/graphics, layout/design and leadership.

The paper was also among 55 of 322 entries to be named a finalist in the organization’s annual Pacemaker contest, which recognizes the nation’s top scholastic newspapers.  Pacemaker winners will be announced Nov. 17.

The paper previously received honors in September, when it was recognized by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association as a gold medalist in its annual journalist critiques of scholastic newspapers.
