The Mason Community Center will kick off its chess camp for children in grades 1-9 Oct. 17.
The camp, which meets from 6-7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays through Nov. 14, is open to both beginners and more experienced players. Players will be paired off at each meeting to play a couple rounds of chess in addition to learning about rules, moves and strategies.
Registration fee is $45 for Mason Community Center premier members; $53 for basic members; $62 for non-member residents and $70 for non-member non-residents.
