Brendan Guerin bought his first stock in Whole Foods when he was in the sixth grade. His investment doubled in less than a year. After that, he was hooked.
Now, this Kings Junior High 8th grader has a stock portfolio that would make anyone jealous.
Brendan has done so well investing that he caught the attention of CNBC’s “Mad Money” host Jim Cramer. Twice in the past year Brendan has called into the show to talk about his stock portfolio and ask questions.
Brendan doesn’t plan on slowing down either. He now invests in seven or eight different companies. He chooses companies that he believes in and that are suggested on “Mad Money.”
It was his parents that first turned Brendan onto the idea of investing. He had saved some holiday money and didn’t know what buy with it. His dad suggested he invest the money and his mom suggested Whole Foods.
“I like making money,” Brendan said. “I don’t buy stuff, I just like having it.”
After high school Brendan would like to attend Harvard or Stanford to obtain two Doctorates in Business and Finance. He hopes to own his own investment company someday.
