Sue Kiesewetter reports:
Kings Mills Elementary students were moved to the junior high shortly after noon today following the discovery of a small fire in a restroom.
“The students were evacuated in record time and the fire was put out even before the fire department arrived,’’ said Lindsay Braud, district spokeswoman.
The fire was quickly put out by a school custodian. No one was injured and there was no damage to the school.
Students were evacuated as a precaution and so the building could be ventilated, Braud said.
Students were dismissed from the junior high when buses arrived at 2 p.m.
Braud said school officials believe a student at the school set the fire but wouldn’t comment further because the investigation is continuing.
