Refining her ball-handling skills and extending her jump shot have been the emphasis for Mason senior forward Kayla McDowell, and that work ethic has set her apart from peers, according to Comets girls’ basketball coach Rob Matula.
McDowell’s ability also translated into multiple scholarship offers before she verbally committed to Missouri on Aug. 1.
McDowell is one of several student-athletes who are scheduled to sign National Letters of Intent with college programs this week.
Today marks the initial signing date of the early period for sports that include basketball, wrestling, swimming and diving, lacrosse, volleyball, gymnastics, softball, golf, hockey, baseball and tennis. The early period concludes Nov. 21 and the regular period starts April 17.
National Signing Day for football, field hockey, soccer, track and field, men’s water polo and cross country is Feb. 6. Click to read some sports recruiting highlights from other schools in the area.
