A Deerfield Township businesswoman has been named the Ohio Small Business Person of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration.
Karri Bass, president and CEO of Illumination Research, was one of 53 honorees recognized the organization’s National Small Business Week events held June 17-21 in Washington D.C.
Bass began her career in brand management at Procter & Gamble and worked as an independent researcher for three years before launching the company in 2005 with husband Jeff Bass, who left his job in finance at P&G to become her second employee.
Today, the 30-person company has its corporate headquarters in Deerfield Township and regional offices in Chicago and San Francisco.
The full-service market and research firm designs and conducts research studies for Fortune 500 companies across the U.S. and globally, in addition to providing ideation sessions and training for internal market research managers.
Bass was recognized in December as a runner-up in the Woman-Owned Business category of the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber’s women’s leadership initiative, Women Excel (WE) awards.
