Bowdeya Tweh reports:
Procter & Gamble Co. has launched a pet food recall after finding some products could potentially be contaminated with salmonella.
The voluntary recall issued last week affects certain Eukanuba dry dog foods and Iams dry dog and cat foods distributed to U.S. retailers.
Earlier this year, P&G’s Natura Pet Products was part of three recalls because of salmonella contamination fears.
There have been no reports of pet or human illness associated with the products being recalled, P&G said.
Products were made during a 10-day window at a single manufacturing site, and the company’s routine testing determined that some products could potentially be contaminated with the bacteria.
Salmonella can affect animals eating the products, and there is risk to humans from handling contaminated pet products, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with the products or any surfaces exposed to these products.
Affected products should be discarded.
