A Mason’s man boat was crushed by an oncoming train near his waterfront property in Foster, Ky., about 25 miles south of Alexandria.
The Ledger Independent reports that shortly before 3 p.m. Tuesday, Michael Tener was driving his Chevrolet Suburban towing his 1987 Wellcraft pleasure boat on a private road near his Bracken County property along the Ohio River.
The boat trailer failed to clear the pavement and Tener was unable to free it from the tracks. Tener attempted to call a posted emergency number to stop the train when he saw the eastbound CSX train approaching and ran.
The train struck the boat and trailer, “destroying them” and ripped the hitch off the Suburban, Bracken County Deputy Ian Kesch told The Ledger Independent.
The train sustained a small amount of damage to the engine, but was able to travel on. No injuries were reported, Kelsch said.
