PQ Shelters has told state officials it will add 100 full-time jobs and more than $4 million in payroll to its operations in Mason.
PQ Shelters, a subsidiary of The Armor Group, manufactures fabricated shelter and enclosure products. The state Tax Credit Authority approved a 50 percent, six-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.
A dollar value on the credit was not provided, but the company will receive the equivalent of half the state income tax that’s withheld from the new employees’ paychecks for the next six years.
PQ Shelters’ application for the job creation tax credit says the company could not justify the expansion in Mason without the tax break.
