Mason native Brant Daugherty from cable TV’s “Pretty Little Liars” and “Army Wives” will reach a new audience when he competes on ABC”s “Dancing with the Stars.”
Daugherty, 28, will be dancing against ”Jersey Shore” star Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi; actresses Valerie Harper (“Rhoda”), Leah Remini (“King of Queens), Amber Riley (“Glee”) and Elizabeth Berkley (“Saved By the Bell,” ”Showgirls”); former NFL player Keyshawn Johnson; comedians Bill Nye (“Bill Nye, The Science Guy) and Bill Engvall (“Blue Collar Comedy Tour”); actor Corbin Bleu (“High School Musical”); singer Christina Milian (“The Voice”); and reality TV star Jack Osbourne (“The Osbournes”).
Harper, who appears in a “Mary Tyler Moore Show” reunion on “Hot in Cleveland” tonight (20 p.m., TV Land), has said her brain cancer is close to remission.
People magazine calls the 17th season cast “one of the strongest lineups in years.”
Daugherty’s background sounds like a “Glee” episode: The 2004 Mason High School graduate quit the football team his sophomore year to try out for the school play. He moved to Los Angeles in 2008, after earning a film degree at Chicago’s Columbia College.
His first big break was playing Noel Kahn on ABC Family’s “Pretty Little Liars” (2010-2012). He has played Lt. Patrick Clarke this summer on Lifetime’s “Army Wives.” Daugherty also has appeared in NBC’s “Days of our Lives” (2012-13). See his credits here. His father, Mason Middle School art teacher David Daugherty, died in 2009.
His ABC bio says: “Brant Daugherty is best known for his role as “Noel” on ABC Family’s “Pretty Little Liars” and can currently be seen as Lt. Patrick Clarke, on Lifetime’s “Army Wives.” He was also on the daytime serial, “Days of Our Lives.” Daugherty has an upcoming lead role in Hallmark Channel’s TV movie, “The Michaels.” In November, Daugherty will make his film debut in the comedy spoof, “The Starving Games,” from filmmaking team Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer. Hailing from Cincinnati, Ohio, Daugherty went to Columbia College Chicago and earned a bachelor’s degree in film and video production. BRANT DAUGHERTY partners with PETA MURGATROYD.”
Daugherty will be paired with Peta Murgatroyd. “Dancing with the Stars” premieres 8 p.m. Monday Sept. 16. ABC has canceled the Tuesday results show, so the elimination will be held until the next Monday episode.
