My Furry Valentine

My Furry Valentine will feature hundreds of pets for adoption Saturday at locations throughout Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky, including a satellite location in Mason.

While the main adoption event takes place in West Chester, more than 40 satellite adoption events are also scheduled to take place, including an event at the Mason Petsmart store.

HART (Homeless Animal Rescue Team) and Purrfect Friends Cat Rescue will be at the Mason Petsmart store from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.  The two groups will feature several dogs and cats available for adoption.

“By hosting this event, we’re making it easy, fun and convenient for people to meet-and-greet adoptable pets who need and deserve loving homes,” said Carolyn Evans, event organizer.

The Mason Petsmart store is at 8175 Arbor Square Drive.  The main adoption event is being held at Flexi Distribution Center, 8494 Firebird Drive, in West Chester.  Event hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at all locations.

Mason-based Iams helps 1.2 million pets find homes

Posted by rrichardson January 13th, 2012, 1:17 pm Post a Comment

More than 1.2 million animals were adopted in Iams’ Home 4 the Holidays pet adoption campaign this holiday season.

Considered to be one of the world’s largest pet adoption programs, the campaign is an initiative of the Procter & Gamble brand, based at P&G’s Mason Business Center.

Shelters and rescue organizations across the nation are invited each year to partner with the program, which runs from October through the end of December.  Iams provides partnering organizations with free assistance on marketing pets for adoption, garnering media attention, and provides “Starter Kits” to give to people who adopt pets.

The program has helped more than 7 million pets find homes since its inception in 1999.  About 30 Greater Cincinnati area shelters and rescues, including the Humane Association of Warren County, participated in this year’s event.

Iams also donated more than 5 million meals to pets in needs this season through its annual Bags 4 Bowls program.

“We care deeply about the health and well-being of dogs and cats and are so proud of the successes associated with our pet adoption drive,” said Maria Beatriz Rodriguez, Iams general manager. “From the millions of families and pets who have been impacted over the years, to the 10 million bowls of food we’ve donated through our Bags 4 Bowls program since it began last year, we’re dedicated to this cause and already looking ahead to what’s next.”
