Cin City Reptile show to be held in Mason this weekend

Cin City Reptile ShowThousands of reptiles will be on display this weekend at the Cin City Reptile Show.

The monthly show will be held from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Sunday, June 12  in the Belvedere Ballroom at the Kings Island Resort & Conference Center, 5691 Kings Island Drive, Mason.

The first Cin City Reptile show, held in January at Holiday Inn Eastgate, drew such large crowds — nearly 2,000 — that organizers have had to move operations to a larger facility in Mason for the rest of this year’s monthly shows.

The show features thousands of reptile species and supplies for sale. Admission is $4; free for children ages 10 and younger. Door prizes and raffles will be offered.

For more information, call 513-910-0900 or go to www.cincityreptileshow.com.

Cool Critters Outreach

Brian and Richelle Gill of Cool Critters Outreach visited students at The Child’s Place Montessori School in Deerfield Township today.

Brian Gill, a herpetologist, says his role as a reptile educator began when he took a snake to his child’s classroom almost 15 years ago. He has worked in Cincinnati Zoo’s education department and is licensed by Ohio Division of Wildlife.  The Finneytown couple bring selected snakes, lizards, turtles and even alligators to schools and organizations to teach about ecology, conservation and animal behavior.

The Enquirer’s Leigh Taylor was there to capture these great shots.

Representatives from Arrowhead Reptile Rescue visited children at Endeavor Learning Center in Mason yesterday to show off some of their rescued turtles, lizards and snakes.  Members of the nonprofit reptile rescue rehabilitate and “foster” displaced and unwanted reptiles and promote herpeological education in local schools and educational centers.   Check out these great photos by Enquirer photographer Leigh Taylor.
