Mason Community Center to host open house, festival and volunteer fair Saturday

From volunteer opportunities to fitness classes, there’s lots going on Saturday at the Mason Community Center.

The center will hold an open house from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. The event coincides with the center’s Fall Festival and the Volunteer Fair.

Admission to the center — including its fitness center, pools and climbing wall — is free between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Meet with center’s personal training staff between 9 and 11 a.m. to create your own exercise plan and receive fitness tips or take part in fitness classes beginning at 9 a.m..  Special discounts will be offered on personal training packages and memberships purchased that day.

Check out local volunteer opportunities from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Volunteer Fair.   Saturday also marks National Make a Difference Day.

The Fall Festival kicks off at 11 a.m. and runs through 1 p.m.  The event, now in its second year, offers carnival games, crafts, complimentary treats and other family activities.  A costume contest begins at noon, followed by a magic show at 12:30 p.m.

Skidaddles to hold open house on Sunday

Family-friendly activities, craft activities and magician shows are all part of the lineup at Skidaddles Drop-In Anytime Kid Care’s open house set for 2-5 p.m. Sunday.

Parents will have the chance to tour the facility and meet teachers and staff with crafts and activities offered for children.

Skidaddles caters to children ages 18 months – 12 years.  The Deerfield Township business was created “by busy parents for busy parents” as a solution for part-time educational child care.

Skidaddles offers drop-in child care, extended and weekend hours, after-school care and transportation services and full-time child care and preschool.

The center is open from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 6:30 a.m. to midnight Friday and 10 a.m. to midnight Saturday. It opens for birthday parties on Sundays.

WCCC to hold open house and job fair

Area residents can explore adult education programs and local employment opportunities Wednesday, Aug. 8 at the Warren County Career Center.

The center will hold an open house and job fair from noon to 8 p.m. that day at its Lebanon facility, 3525 North S.R. 48.

Coordinators and instructors will provide tours of the center’s various labs and provide more information about its adult education programs.  Counselors will also be on-hand to assess career interests, speak about financial aid and admission requirements.

Business owners are invited to a complimentary noon luncheon about the center’s new assessment and testing center and its job placement center resource for area employers, which is set to open in September.

General information tours will begin in the Media Center every half hour between 1-7 p.m.   The job fair will be held from 1-7 p.m. in the WCCC Commons area.  Free hot dogs and hamburgers will be offered throughout the day.

The event concludes at 7 p.m. with a free outdoor concert by the Centerville Community Band.  Concert-goers are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs.

Programs beginning in the fall include: advanced manufacturing technologies including electrical power line mechanic, HVAC technician and AWS certified welding; cosmetology; health & medical professions including medical assisting, billing and coding, pharmacy technician, phlebotomy technician and EKG technician; heavy equipment/site construction technology; information technology; basic police officer academy; certified business professional; Microsoft certified application specialist; commercial truck driver training; computer software training; and public safety services.

Mason Community Center to hold free open house for seniors

The City of Mason will celebrate National Senior Health & Fitness Day with an open house event Thursday at the Mason Community Center.

The free event, which runs from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., offers free admission for adults ages 55 and older.  Here’s a lineup of activities:

  • Mini-vendor fair, 9 a.m. to noon
  • Forever Fit group exercise class, 10 a.m.
  • Lunch with dietitian Miriam Jackobs, 11:30 a.m. (reservations required)
  • Chair yoga class, 1:30 p.m.

Seniors can also get a “brown bag prescription” review from Group Health Associate’s on-site pharmacy throughout the event.  Call 513-229-8555, ext. 5543 to make an appointment.

Membership discounts of up to 20 percent will be offered.  For more information, call the community center at 513-229-8555.

Cedar Village Retirement Community will hold a Parade of Homes tour from 2-4 p.m. Thursday, May 24.

The event will offer tours of its studio and one- and two-bedroom apartments for independent and assisted living and its newly expanded Cedar Village Rehabilitation Center.

“This would be a great way to find out why we say ‘life begins at Cedar Village,’ ” said Cedar Village CEO and President Carol Elliott.

Cincinnati Gridiron Kids to hold open house Saturday

Cincinnati Gridiron KidsCincinnati Gridiron Kids will hold an open house event at noon Saturday at Wall2Wall Soccer in Mason.

The organization for children ages 3-7 will offer a free class at noon that day.  The program helps children learn the game of football in a non-contact and non-competitive environment.

The spring program, which is held at noon on Saturdays, begins Saturday and runs through June 16.  Cost is $65 for the six-week program.

Mason Community Center to hold Spring Fling and open house

The Mason Community Center will hold a Spring Fling and open house event on Saturday, April 14.

Enjoy the center’s recreational activity and facility free between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.  Here’s some of the activities to be offered that day:

8:45 a.m. – 9:15 a.m. – Get a technique and form review completed for the center’s newest exercise format, BODYPUMP and participate in a BODYPUMP activity at 9:15 a.m.

9 a.m. – noon – Meet with the center’s personal training staff in the fitness center and member lounge to create your own exercise program.

11:15 a.m. – Try the Water Fitness Class sampler, including cardio water fit, aqua zumba and deep water aerobics classes.

2-4 p.m. - Enjoy carnival games, prizes and craft activities during the center’s Spring Fling event.

The center will offer special discounts on personal training packages and will offer one month free to people who sign up for membership.  The center is at 6050 Mason-Montgomery Road and can be reached at 513-229-8555.

Warren County Engineer’s Office to hold open house at new office

The Warren County Engineer’s Office will hold an open house on Thursday, March 29 at its new administration and engineering office.

The new WCEO office is at 210 West Main Street in Lebanon.  The site is the former home of Thomas Corwin, Ohio’s 14th governor.

Event hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.  A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at 10 a.m.  Refreshments will be provided.

WCEO continues to operate highway maintenance, inspections and permits from its former office at 105 Markey Road in Lebanon.

Goddard School to hold summer camp open house

The Goddard School in Mason will hold a summer camp sneak peek from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday.

The open house includes camp-inspired activities, as well as a glimpse at the Summer Olympics-themed camps to be held this summer.  Dinner is included.

Those who enroll at the open house event will receive a Graeter’s gift card.
