Runners and walkers can explore new trails while benefiting a local arts group at the fourth annual Powder Keg 5K Walk-Run Trail race this month.
The event, sponsored by the Mason-Deerfield Arts Alliance and Deerfield Township, is set for Aug. 24 at Carter Park, 1720 E. Kings Ave., Kings Mills.
The scenic course explores the trails of the historic Kings Mansion. The 128-year-old mansion was built by gunpowder magnate Ahimaaz King, who served as manager of the King Powder Company from 1877 until his death in 1909.
Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers, along with other age-ranked awards and door prizes. The top finishers will also receive a pair of trail shoes, courtesy of ASICS and The Running Spot.
Cost is $10. Proceeds benefit the MDAA’s Summer Camp Scholarship Fund. Register online at www.runningtime.net or call 513-398-8585.
