Mason OKs charter amendment for ballot

Posted by rrichardson August 29th, 2011, 8:00 am Post a Comment

City Council has placed a charter amendment on the November ballot.

Council approved the amendment this week that if approved would clarify that a partial term to which a Council member is appointed is not included in the calculation of consecutive years of service.

The amendment was proposed because the city has term limits of no more than two consecutive four-year terms, but some appointed members who were serving unexpired terms faced having to step down without serving eight years.
