Snack cake thief dumps Little Debbies

Janice Morse reports:

Apparently the thief didn’t have a sweet tooth.

Whoever stole a truckload of Little Debbie snack cakes from Warren County on Friday has apparently ditched the treats. Dozens of brown cardboard boxes packed with Little Debbies were found this afternoon at a business in the 1900 block of Dalton Avenue, police said.

And, alas, “someone left the cake out in the rain,” just as in songstress Donna Summer’s 1978 hit, “MacArthur Park.” Tuesday’s discovery of the dumped boxes followed a rainy Monday. That’s why the goods couldn’t be salvaged, said Warren County sheriff’s Sgt. Brandon Lacy.

Tristate Crime Stoppers contacted Warren County investigators about the discovery of the boxes this afternoon, Lacy said. Then authorities contacted the truck’s owner and verified that the discarded items were his, Lacy said.

Authorities are still searching for the unmarked truck and trailer, which went missing Friday from a parking lot at Shell gas station, 9791 Mason-Montgomery Road, Deerfield Township.

The license plate on the red 2012 Dodge Dually truck is PHV-6854.

The plate on the black 2008 enclosed trailer is TPM-7423.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Jerry Niffennegger: 513-695-2525, or Crime Stoppers: 513-352-3040.

A Symmes Township woman has been indicted for robbery and escape on charges stemming from a Dec. 1 incident at the Kroger store in Deerfield Township.

Warren County prosecutors say that Loretta D. Foster, 29, was shoplifting a cart of groceries at the store on Terra Firma Drive off Mason-Montgomery Road when she bit a Kroger loss prevention officer while trying to flee the scene, raising the charge from theft to robbery.

Warren County sheriff’s deputies arrested Foster and detained her in the rear of a police car.  Police say Foster freed herself from the handcuffs and asked for the window to be rolled down, claiming to be ill.  She then escaped from the vehicle.

Foster appeared in Warren County Common Pleas Court Wednesday, where a judge set a bond of $50,000 in cash or bail bond.  She’s scheduled to be arraigned on the charges on Jan. 20.
